Head of Operations

Emma Le is the Head of Operations at the Center for Gender Equitable AI where she streamlines organizational systems, strengthens internal communications, and oversees the delivery of key initiatives. With a background in advocacy, she is deeply concerned about the disproportionate consequences of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies on marginalized communities, and is passionate about advancing technologies and policies that uplift vulnerable populations.

Emma is a recent alumna of the University of California, Riverside, where she graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science. During her time at UC Riverside, she championed systems-level change for first-generation students and professionals. As the 2023-2024 UC Riverside Ambassador to the UC Advocacy Network (UCAN), Emma represented student needs to UC leadership and lawmakers in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. As an Executive Board Member of Womxn in the Law (WITL), she spearheaded Raising the Bar— UC Riverside’s first pre-law mentorship program connecting pre-law students with legal professionals from underrepresented backgrounds.

As a Minority Serving Institution Research Academic (MSIRA) Fellow, Emma conducted legal research on Big Tech corporate governance, uncovering critical regulatory gaps surrounding emerging technologies. At the Laboratory for Technology, Communication and Democracy (TeCD-Lab), she helped develop Prytaneum— an AI-powered platform for accessible communication between Congress members and constituents. Her research reflects a commitment to advancing equity and accountability in the AI field.

In 2024, Emma witnessed the launch of ChatGPT-4 and its real world disparities on vulnerable populations— including child explicit deepfakes, gender-biased hiring algorithms, and racially-biased facial recognition tools. Since then, she has committed to promoting ethical and safe technology governance. Emma is an inaugural AI Safety Policy Fellow at the Berkeley AI Safety Student Initiative (BASIS), where she conducts international AI governance research. She is also a Paragon Technology Policy Fellow with the Los Angeles Office of the Mayor, where she supports broadband expansion for all LA residents, businesses, and institutions.

Beyond her advocacy and policy work, Emma is applying to law school with the goal of building a strong legal foundation for equitable technology policy reform.
