Head of Finance

Tharika Madireddy is the Head of Finance at the Center for Gender and Equitable AI, where she works to support the development of artificial intelligence that is inclusive, ethical, and representative of diverse communities. She is currently a freshman at Rutgers University studying economics, with academic and personal interests rooted in public policy, civic engagement, and the social impact of emerging technologies.

Her passion for civics began through four years of involvement in Youth and Government, where she was introduced to the legislative process and the power of policymaking. Seeing other students write and advocate for their own bills inspired her to believe in the real impact young people can have in government. While overseeing media content, she further realized how youth voices can shape conversations and influence public understanding of important issues.

Tharika also served as an Executive Assistant at New Voters, a large-scale, civics and policy-focused nonprofit organization. In this role, she developed strong organizational and quantitative skills while supporting initiatives aimed at increasing youth participation in democracy. Working in this environment gave her experience operating within a mission-driven organization and understanding how systems function at scale.

Overall, Tharika is deeply committed to building a future where artificial intelligence is accessible, accountable, and created for everyone by everyone, with equity and civic responsibility at the center.
